Breast cancer has had a huge impact on my life. Twelve years ago, after a long and very well fought battle, I lost my mother to this unforgiving disease. In the years that followed I've witnessed two aunts undertake their own journey, and win. Just the other day I got yet another dreaded call, my closest cousin, only one month - one day older then myself has been given her call to battle. After that call I spent hours pondering over what I could do. I've known the feeling of pure helplessness so well by now as so many other do. Then it hit me. . . . .We can keep doing what we are currently doing. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is making big strides in finding a cure and fighting this disease with their 'walk for a cure" Race for a cure and all the many events they host to raise funds. Great strides have been made in the past twelve years. Lets help make more. We can all reach out in support, extend encouragement spread hope and faith. Knowledge and early detection is the best weapon in what is seemingly an endless battle for the women we love and cherish. Kelly Grover |
